Arnpriors Fields Of Gold

Summer is an ee Red, for more information about the genetics of this colour go to

The Border Collie Museum

When Summer was born she had obvious merle markings, her dam Pebbles is a blue merle. Shortly after birth when dry, it can be hard to see the merling due to the light coat colour, Summer is registered as a Red Merle with the Kennel Club

She is a gem to live with, full of fun and very affectionate, she would wrap herself around your neck to get extra close if she could, she loves to cuddle up on the sofa. She loves swimming in the sea which she does most days along with the others if the weather isn't too cold. Summer is almost impossible to photograph, if she as much as hears the camera getting switched on she runs over to me with a running jump and gets all excited, so most pictures are taken when she isnt aware of it

Below is a small video of Summer in the ring at Crufts 2008 with her young handler Amy Miles. First time at Crufts for both Summer (who qualified under Sue Ader at Bournmouth Ch Show) and Amy.

Summer was out of coat for both the Bournmouth show and Crufts!

Amy has only handled a couple of times at open shows, It was a very proud moment seeing them both together in the ring. Summer also drew a lot of attention from the public at the show due to her colouring, there were only three ee reds at Crufts one being her sire who got Reserve in Limit.

Show Placements

Summer has been shown lightly, below are some her show results to date

Southern Border Collie Club Ch Show 2008 3rd in Graduate. Judge Mike Kiff

Southern Border Collie Club 2008: 4th in Yearling, 2nd in Graduate bitch. Judge Irene Kiff

Critique for above show:  ARNPRIORS FIELDS OF GOLD. Very pretty ee red bitch who well deserved her place here. Was reserve in the strong Yearling class but here had settled down more on the move. Lovely feminine head and good body proportions, would prefer a little more of her. Irene Kiff

Southern Border Collie Club 2007: 2nd in Yearling Bitch.  Judge Ian Lewis (?)

Wessex Border Collie Club 2007: 2nd in Junior 4th in AC but B/W. Judge, John Allen

Bournmouth Canine Society 2007: 3rd in Junior, 3rd in Yearling Bitch. Judge, Sue Ader

Wessex Border Collie Club 2007: 2nd in Junior, 2nd in Novice.  Judge,Nick Grosvenor

Critique for above show: Saxon's ANPRIORS FIELDS OF GOLD, 13mth ee red.  Who pushed really hard to top this strong class with many of the same comments as the winner, pleases greatly in head and outline being well constructed and balanced throughout and shown in super order and moved as you would expect with such correct conformation, at the death just felt the winners handler just got that little extra from her to tip the decision but I could easily have gone the other way in my final analysis when choosing between these two lovely bitches.   Nick Grosvener

Southern Border Collie Club Ch 2007: 5th in Puppy Bitch. Judge Pam Harris

Gravesend & Medway CA 2007: 5th in Puppy Bitch

Southern Border Collie Club 2007:  2nd in Puppy Bitch. Judge,  Mick Taylor
